Kathmandu Taxi Driver Momentarily Becomes Listed Richest Man In Country, Companies Put Most Of Its Staff On Deputation

People of Kathmandu had to face a harrowing ordeal due to heavy traffic in the city everyday. One taxi driver however was all smiles after he became the richest man in the country for a brief moment. Kharibote Kaila, who drives his taxi in the city of Kathmandu, saw his net worth soar to 40 Mn USD in just 6 month after ferrying passengers for astronomical fares.

Though Kaila refused to share the exact amount he managed to fleece out of passengers but said that if the traffic jam continues for couple of more years then he might just upstage Jack Ma. Our reporter visited Kaila at his under construction villa. Apart from all the usual luxuries that depict wealth, the house will also have a huge glass showcase to keep the taxi meter which he never used, just to remind him of his humble beginnings.

Not just Kaila other taxi drivers too minted a significant amount of money. Apparently, one driver made so much wealth that he now has his own Who Wants To Be a Millionaire show.

Looking at the prospect of making enormous amount of money, the country’s struggling companies put most of it’s staff on deputation as taxi drivers in Kathmandu. “As per our calculations we found that all our debts, will be taken care of if our employees drive taxi for a day in the city. We have to make most of this situation. Who knows when the road expansion project will be completed,” said a senior official from the HR department.
